Aims and Objectives

  • To promote the improvement of the mental health of seafarers,

  • Foster the co-operation with global mental health stakeholders,

  • Define components of mental health in the maritime industry

  • Work with mental health stakeholders to develop standards for

    • A mental health first aid kit

    • Mental health training for management teams at sea and ashore.

  • Determine whether there is a need for post-traumatic counselling events (PTSD) and if so, develop a framework to do this.

  • Full understand how the maritime industry is affected by mental health.
